Appello show support for Homes at the Heart campaign

This week at Appello we are showing our support for Homes at the Heart, a campaign and coalition from the National Housing Federation, calling for a once-in-a-generation investment in social housing.

During CV-19 many of us have found we have spent more time at home than ever before. For some people, home has been a place of work and a sanctuary. For others, it has been a prison.

We are in complete agreement with the Homes at the Heat campaign, that ‘Everyone deserves a safe, secure, comfortable place to call home. Not just now, in the middle of this crisis, but always.’

This week the campaign is themed around how homes are at the heart of living well, focussing on housing-based care and support, and the benefits of good housing for health. As the UK’s market leader in digital telecare services, supporting over 200,000 vulnerable individuals, we recognise how supported housing can transform lives. It can help people carry on living independently, improve life chances and has been proven to help people manage through a crisis.

On showing our support to the campaign, Tim Barclay, CEO at Appello, said “The services available within supported housing are just as important as the bricks and mortar. Every day, we see how investment in innovation, technology and support services leads to safe, secure, comfortable places that vulnerable people are proud to call home.

It is evident that during COVID-19 there has been disparity in the quality of life enjoyed by those with, and those without, access to modern technology, such as digital TECS. For this reason, we are showing our support to the Homes at the Heart campaign, calling for a once in a life-time investment in social housing”.
