Blackpool Coastal Housing (BCH) provides sheltered accommodation in 20 schemes across Blackpool, Lancashire. As an organisation, they strive to deliver an excellent standard of housing to their customers while empowering their staff and residents in their work and lives.
The challenge
BCH recognised that their analogue telecare system was becoming outdated due to digital changes in the telecoms network. They needed a replacement that would ensure long-term compatibility with the developing digital environment, while offering advanced features to meet the evolving needs of their residents and staff.
The solution and result
In 2019, BCH partnered with Appello to introduce Smart Living Solutions (SLS) into their sheltered housing stock. The adaptable and up-to-date system provided a long-term digital warden call and telecare solution. Key features included video calling, remote calling via tablets, and assistive applications to support residents’ health and wellbeing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these features proved essential, enabling staff to maintain communication and provide inclusive support remotely.
