In 2019, BCH partnered with Appello to introduce Smart Living Solutions (SLS) into their sheltered housing stock. The adaptable and up-to-date system provided a long-term digital warden call and telecare solution. Key features included video calling, remote calling via tablets, and assistive applications to support residents’ health and wellbeing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these features proved essential, enabling staff to maintain communication and provide inclusive support remotely. 

Both staff and residents adapted quickly to the intuitive interface, with residents praising features such as video door entry and the "I’m OK" check-in.
