Appello was thrilled to be a headline sponsor at the TSA ITEC 2025 conference in March. In this blog post, we look at our highlights from the event plus key messages from the sessions, which focused on the overall theme 'Transforming Lives through Digital Innovation: Unlocking the Power of Technology Enabled Care'.
ITEC 2025 had a record number of attendees, with many opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing across the TEC industry.
We had a very busy couple of days at the event. Alongside a number of interesting sessions, it was fantastic to meet so many delegates 'on the ground' at our stand.
Our ITEC 2025 highlights included:
Quality accreditation at the Gala Dinner
We were particularly proud to receive the Quality Standards Framework (QSF) accreditation for supply of service at the Gala Dinner. This is designed to elevate standards and drive improvement, so it’s a real testament to our commitment to quality.
Live demos and a touch of magic at our stand
We were on hand throughout the conference to answer questions and provide expert advice at our stand. A professional magician created a buzz with some mind-boggling tricks! This drew significant crowds, who stayed for live demonstrations of our complete product range, including our digital warden call systems and dispersed alarms, as well as our analogue to digital converter, SmartBridge.
Insights on creating a common understanding of TEC
Our Managing Director, Craig Barlow, shared his insights over on the Innovation Stage, as part of the session on creating a common understanding of TEC for end users. This explored the challenge of communicating the life-saving role of technology enabled care and how this supports independent living. (Read more in our blog post: Why a Common Understanding of Technology Enabled Care Is Vital.)
Tackling First Time Call Failures
Craig also chaired a session on First Time Call Failures, a critical issue within the industry right now. This discussed the impact of these call failures and the options to overcome the risks, in particular looking at analogue to digital converters as a solution.
Key takeaways from ITEC 2025
ITEC 2025 covered a lot of ground, with a comprehensive programme across two days.
Unsurprisingly, the urgency of the analogue to digital transition was a major focus. There were sessions on how to drive this forward and strategies for success.
Several sessions also explored beyond the digital switchover, looking at how we can harness TEC to work towards shared goals of improving outcomes and delivering proactive, preventative care. This included discussion on how AI will further transform services.
There was also a keynote session featuring the Minister of State for Care, Stephen Kinnock. He reinforced the government's commitment to the TEC sector and spoke about how national policy is leveraging digital innovation to create proactive, preventative care systems that will improve people’s lives.
Some key takeaways from the event include:
The growing recognition on the importance of the digital transition
Organisations are aware of the need to act as we get closer to the deadline for the analogue switch off. Many are looking for shorter-term, cost-effective solutions in response.
Analogue to digital converters as an option to ‘bridge the gap’
There were discussions on the role that analogue to digital converters can play in easing the transition to digital. This is something we found a lot of interest in over at the Appello stand, as our SmartBridge analogue to digital converter offers precisely this kind of stepping stone for organisations not ready for a full upgrade.

The need for collaboration and education
There was a very positive and collaborative atmosphere at the event, with an emphasis on the importance of sharing knowledge and practice across sectors to drive innovation, particularly in proactive and preventative care.
Everyday TEC
The conference also saw the launch of TSA's new campaign on making information on technology enabled care more accessible. This centres around the straightforward message that technology enabled care provides: “The everyday help we need to enjoy the lives we want.”
The campaign aims to show people how TEC services can keep people ‘Safe and Well’, ‘In Control’ and ‘In Touch’.
These important principles have underpinned our approach here at Appello over the years, not only for the end user, but also for housing and care providers and their staff.
With the digital transition happening now, we agree it's all about keeping it simple to:
- help people to understand the importance of switching to digital telecare; and
- show how this can improve everyday lives and wellbeing (as well as providing operational benefits for organisations).
Did you attend TSA ITEC 2025? We'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
Simplifying the digital switchover
One of our core aims at Appello is to educate the industry, helping those in housing and care to understand what technology enabled care is and how it can help people live independently for longer.
We created a resource for the ITEC conference on ‘Three Top Questions to Ask your Supplier When Upgrading to Digital’. This covers A2D converters, warden call systems, dispersed alarms and monitoring/careline services.
