We are extremely proud to announce that Appello and Housing 21 have been awarded the Best Use of Technology in Seniors Housing in the Seniors Housing Awards.
We have worked with Housing 21 for over five years, to assist them on embarking their digital journey. In partnership with Housing 21 we began the development of our Smart Living Solutions (SLS), the UK’s first digital Technology Enabled Care (TEC) system. This system has now been installed into c225 Housing 21 developments with many more still in the line-up.
Tim Barclay, CEO of Appello said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded the Best Use of Technology in Seniors Housing, alongside Housing 21. Together we have created a fantastic partnership and are proud to work with them on their digital journey. Appello’s Smart Living Solutions transforms lives, and improves the delivery of housing services, so this award is a great recognition for how we are delivering significant improvements to the safety and wellbeing of customers through the adoption of digital technology.”
With the digital upgrade 2025 deadline fast approaching, we developed Smart Living Solutions to utilise industry approved digital protocols. Our system reduces call connection speeds from the alarm system to the monitoring centre from 1m 30s to just 3 seconds. It mitigates telecare first-time call failures, removes call queues, and enables a dual speech as opposed to walkie-talkie style communication.
As the first housing provider in the UK to commitment of only digital telecare, Housing 21 reaped the benefits of digital technology, even through unprecedented times. This was due to SLS including video/voice social calling capabilities, keeping residents in touch with neighbours and staff whilst isolating.
Even before COVID, Housing 21 found that through digital technology residents’ wellbeing was improving and that 9 out of 10 felt safer.
Through Appello’s innovative digital products and Housing 21’s dedication to a fully digital environment, our relationship will continue to grow to not only support staff but also improve the safety and wellbeing of residents lives.
HealthInvestor UK launched the Seniors Housing Awards after noticing ‘the seniors housing market becoming the fastest growing sub-sectors of healthcare real estate’ and how ‘the challenge is constructing real estate that is both fit for purpose and inspiring.’ Recognising the fundamental shift in both the housing and the care market brought the launch of the Seniors Housing Awards, which focusses on ‘individuals and teams operating, building, investing in and advising senior housing facilities.’
